A world of darkness

Once Upon a time a sun shined down on earth, brighting every corner of our paradise. Until one day what we call “The Beast ” used the organs from Ma’at, Ashet and Semkhet to blot out the sun. They where a family of magics known as the Ra’tet. The beast used the metal wings of Ashet and Semkhet and the heart of Ma’at to make a ritual to eclipse the sun, which is completed when the dark energy of the Mesekat is imbued in the orb which was extracted from Mangets head. The eclipse begins as a sunlight-blocking spot that spreads covering Tulip and is supposed to eventually cover the totality of Neptune.  Our world has been completely dark for ages, and we all felt the chill that was everlasting. We knew that in a few more years the temperature would reach -670 and we would not be able to live. Most of the people here know how to survive but with all little plants and foods dying its hard. A lot of tall and large trees have lasted us but they are starting to die off one by one. With the food chain’s bottom tier knocked out, most animals died off quickly, but the scavengers picking over the dead remains will last until the cold kills them. As for the rest of us, a lot of people have moved along the coast. Having an ocean near them will keep them alive longer than the rest of us. Now some of us  live in houses with mass amounts of insulation but the cold does keep us up at night. The heat retained in the atmosphere, oceans, and land is the only thing we have left. The tops of the oceans are frozen but some people live in submarines below the ocean. From time to time they will come up and give us some fish or whatever it is they find. After that we all gather around and make a fire and try and cook the food. If it does not cook all the way we have to eat raw. As of this moment my family and I have just arrived in Ice Land my mother thought this was the best place to be. Although here it was very crowded and all the people were living in tents and had thin blankets covering them. My family got it hard when the sun was blocked, we were a poor family and we did not have a lot of blankets or food in the first place. I have decided that tonight I will leave my family to go and stay with my friend Gwen, she was rich and offered for me to run away when the sun was first blocked out.  I walked for about two days to get to where Gwen said she would be, but finally I found her and she lived in a house. She had thick blankets and a lot of fish because her dad had a submarine and would bring them food. Her mom was thrilled to see me and offered me my own bed! At night though I could not sleep I wandered around the house and heard people talking. There was a little circle of people including Gwen talking very quietly about the sun. I was not close enough but all I heard was a man say ‘sacrifice’. Gwen told me he next day that she knew i was listening last night and she wanted to explain. ” Aiden thinks that if we give a sacrifice to the sun that it will come back. He is very superstitious.” ” Do you think that he is right?” I asked. ” I think that he needs to think that one day the sun will return” she rolled her eyes. ” And you.. you don’t think that the sun will ever return?” ” Jezebel I don’t know, but don’t you think that if the sun was going to come back it would have already?” Living off of fish and watching people die of the cold, Gwen’s family thought we should take more people in the house. Considering it was so big and so many were even more cold than we were. It had been at least a month since my talk with Gwen and since i had seen my family. But as I walked out to close the gates and tell people that there was no more room for the night when I bumped into a little girl. “Jez!!” my little sister jumped with joy. ‘”Annabel? what on Neptune are you doing here?” My mom came out of nowhere and her face had been sunken in and she was pale and so so cold. i was horrified to see my mom look this way but when i didn’t she dad i knew why they had came. my mom pulled me over to the side and told the girls not to move. ” Your father was found trying to get us food and he didn’t make it. As you can see I’m not going to make it either.” She tried to kindly smile but it only made me feel worse.  She kissed me on the forehead and  walked away. I held in my tears, I had to be strong for the girls. “Okay Annabel, Kaylin lets go.”

Gwen said it would be fine if they stayed I told the girls to go to sleep I had to go down stairs and talk with Aiden. ” I will do it.” I whispered to Aiden feeling Gwen behind me. ” Do what jez?” he walked to the little couch and sat. ” The sacrifice what else?” He laughed. ” you are not going to be doing anything you are a child and have you family to take care of.” ” Gwen said she would keep them safe and I’m not a child I am seventeen!” I held my chin up. Gwen grabbed my arm and pulled me away from Aiden. ” Are you insane?” ” I have made up my mind!” ” Its stupid and will not work and you will have died for nothing!” I stared at her with wide eyes. ” You have a family that needs you now more than ever and you cant just die because Aiden reads to many comic books!” ” Well now he wont have to read them in the dark.” She looked at me and saw that I had made up my mind. she took a deep breathe and closed her eyes. ” It should be me. My dad gets food for everyone my mom knits blankets and you take people into our home. All of you help people and I have done nothing. I will do it.” We tried to argue but she wouldn’t take it.  Aiden said that we had to go to the very top of the highest  mountain and make the sacrifice. So the three of us packed some stuff like some fish a knife or two and some blankets. When we were sneaky out that night Kaylin jumped in front of us with a backpack strapped to her back. ” Your not coming!” I told her. ” Try and stop me.” So the four of us climbed up the highest mountain to make the sacrifice. At one point Gwen said she couldn’t make it to the of the mountain and she almost fell. Aiden tried to save her and ended up falling him self so there are only three of us now. We were almost to the top when we saw a little girl kneeling on the very top. We asked her what she was doing but she told us to leave and that there was nothing here for us. But we continued to walk and on the top of this mountain there was light. A huge sun casted light on this one part of the earth. The little girl looked as if she were dying, she smiled at us. When she finally spoke she told us that she was dying because she had spent enough time here with the last patch of sun. She said that this was the land of light, and were we had come from was the land of darkness. Only few make it as far as we did and her time here was up and it was time for us to rule the land of light. She died and from her ashes Aiden with a smile on his face rose and ran to hug his sister Gwen!  We ruled in the land of light for a very long time and everyone we knew was died in the land of darkness. But if you die on the other side you come back were there is light so soon enough the land of light was renamed Earth and we all lived happily ever after with warmth.x
